Hawaii Drivers Permit Practice Test

A red arrow signal indicates that the traffic in the direction that the arrow points must stop. This is similar to a circular red light but specifically applies to the lane indicated by the arrow. The purpose of the red arrow is to communicate a stop condition for vehicles intending to go in that direction, ensuring safety at intersections by preventing potential conflicts with other vehicles and pedestrians.

While a circular red light directs traffic in all directions, a red arrow provides specific guidance for a singular lane, emphasizing the need to halt before proceeding. Understanding this distinction is essential for interpreting traffic signals correctly and maintaining safe driving practices.
